In 2023, CARTOONS ON THE BAY, International Festival of Animation, Transmedia and Meta-Arts has dedicated and curated a solo exhibition to Monica Manganelli to celebrate her  career in two decades of international experiences in opera houses/theater, film productions and events: “MONICA MANGANELLI. IMAGINED and IMAGINARY WORLDS BETWEEN UTOPIC, REALITY AND SUSPENSION.” 

In this 27th edition of the Cartoons on the Bay debuted the GENDER AWARD won by Monica Manganellifor having been able to outline the battle for women’s rights and the condition of women with vigor and original artistic flair through the representation of timeless heroines.”

The first part of the SOLO exhibition traces the beginnings of my career between film productions and opera/musical theaters, up to my latest films and multidisciplinary projects  that I have written, directed and designed. In addition, there will be an immersive room with one of my multidisciplinary projects (The Atlas of Wonders).
The last part of the exhibition will be entirely dedicated to my new project, TURANDOT-Princess of China, a full-length animated film, in development,  which has already received an initial contribution from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage-Cinema Directorate.
In addition, as invited artist Monica Manganelli designed and signed the poster of 27th edition of ”Cartoons On The Bay – International Festival of Animation, Transmedia and Meta-Arts‘”, which will take place in Pescara from May 31st to June 4th, 2023: A tribute to surrealist painting and to theater masks with a reference to the first historical festival logo.
